Vitrigraph Turbo Base with convection ports. The clover leaf pattern cut into this 12 inch X 12 inch X 1/4 inch mullite plate allows heated convection air to enter the heating chamber of the crucible, thereby facilitating faster heating times.
An external heat source like a Bunsen Burner can effectively deliver additional heat to your crucible.
Shown here with a standard clay azalea pot (purchased from Home Depot or Michaels Craft Supply), the Turbo Base can accommodate the standard 6 inch pot as well as the vitrigraph crucible from Bullseye - shown in white. Even with a 6 inch pot, the Turbo Base convection ports allow ample heat to enter the chamber.
